BiH occupies the 86th place among the 190 countries in the world in the latest “Doing Business” report by the World Bank.

When it comes to our region, Macedonia is the best-ranked country at the 11th place, Kosovo is ranked as the 40th, Montenegro is at the 42nd place, Serbia is on the 43rd place, while Croatia occupied the 51st place. New Zealand, Singapore and Denmark are at the very top of the list.

As reported by the annual report “Doing Business” by the World Bank, European and Central Asian countries are continuing with their active reform program with the aim to improve their business environment, to create new workplaces and encourage further growth.

The published report ‘Doing Business 2018: Reforming to Create Jobs’, recorded a total of 44 reforms realized in the region in the previous year, which gives a total of 673 reforms that were implemented over the past 15 years.

“The countries of Europe and Central Asia continue to demonstrate a very strong reform agenda,” stated Santiago Croci Downes, the Chief of the Program in the sector for “Doing Business”.

European and Central Asian countries show the best performance in “Doing Business” areas that are referring to the protection of minority investors and property registration. For example, an average of 20 days is needed for the transfer of a commercial property, in comparison to a global average of 49 days.
