MP Cengic: The Sea Coast belongs to Everyone, not the local Community

A delegate in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament Irfan Čengić today launched an initiative to amend the FBiH Water Law as well as a proposal to the Bosniak Club in the House of Peoples of the FBiH Parliament to start the procedure for assessing the constitutionality of that law and adopting a temporary measure.

Čengić reminds that a year ago he opened the issue of the unconstitutional registration of the sea coast of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the local self-government unit and that until today the government has done nothing to protect state property.

“In the campaign, I promised to deal with the protection of state property, which is why I submitted today to the procedure the Initiative for Amendments to the FBiH Water Law in order to remove the unconstitutional provisions of the law and delete the consequences that those provisions have caused. I also filed a request to the Bosniak Club in the House of Peoples of the PFBiH to hold a session and file an appeal with the Constitutional Court of BiH, in order to adopt a temporary measure and delete the unconstitutional provisions from the FBiH Water Law,” explained Čengić.

In the initiative, he states that he believes that the disputed Law enables part of the “state property”, which is the property of Bosnia and Herzegovina, to be transformed into entity property, that is, into the property of a local self-government unit.

“This entity law precisely governs sea water and bottom, river water and riverbeds contrary to the Constitution of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the decisions of the Constitutional Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina,” said Čengić.
