Politicians reveal the Agreement with HR Schmidt regarding the Election Law

Leaders of political parties in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina were at a meeting in Office of the High Representative regarding the electoral reforms that HR Christian Schmidt is planning. After the meeting, they said that Schmidt will not impose the political part of the changes to the Election Law, but that he will do the technical part.

SDP party President Nermin Niksic was the first to leave the meeting and announced that for now there will be no imposition of problematic decisions on the Election Law, but that Schmidt is not giving up on that option if he deems it necessary.

“I am satisfied with the fact that we will not have a decision by the high representative. For now, it is based only on the transparency of the election process,” said Niksic.

Konakovic came out after him and said that everyone present was satisfied with what they heard.

“Now we have heard from the international community that we have to negotiate. He said several times that he is thinking about the census. We had an interesting meeting, at the beginning Schmidt was shouting and banging on the table,” Konakovic said.

He also states that “he got the impression that he (Schmidt) is wisely waiting to see if we will come to an agreement and then if that does not happen, he will also impose the political part”.

Predrag Kojovic asked Schmidt to say clearly and precisely which political proposals for changes were on the table, but Schmidt did not want to answer that.

Bakir Izetbegovic, Zeljko Komsic and Dragan Covic were not present at the meeting, but Alma Colo from SDA, Dzenan Đonlagic from DF and Dragan Covic’s adviser came instead, Klix.ba writes.
