Pope Frances concerned for position of Catholics in BiH

pope francisPope Frances is looking forward to his visit to BiH, Bishop of Banja Luka Franjo Komarica stated today.

”It is a great gift to our country, which is still unstable, politically and economically, and it needs a little stronger encouragement and light on its path,” said Monsignor Komarica.

He added that the Pope is concerned for position of Catholics in BiH.

“Pope knows that there are no Catholics in half of the country, only 5 percent, whereas their number is drastically reducing in the other half of the country,” said Bishop Komarica, adding it is even more absurd it is happening in Europe.

He repeated it is not good for the law of the stronger to rule in BiH and that this state does not have “a normal structure”.

”If the state hash unregulated legislation or aberrance of individuals, then this kind of thing happens,” said Komarica and called politicians again to answer why pre-war residents of BiH have not returned.

”We cannot allow that law of the jungle,” said Bishop Komarica, convinced that the Pope will give recommendations to Catholics to expand their horizons and fight for rights of a man.

He reminded of recent messages of the Head of the Catholic Church, but he also pointed that for displaced persons the biggest enemy is time, because many have died of their desire to return home.

He said there are currently 4.000 requests for return to area of Banja Luka, but little funds are allocated for return of Croats.

He asked why return is not assisted to Briševo, Šimići… and emphasized that authorities of this country need to answer those questions.
