b_150606027The Holy Mass at the Koševo Stadium will represent the central event of the visit of Pope Francis to Bosnia and Herzegovina when the Holy Father will send a message of peace, dialogue, coexistence and tolerance to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The Eucharistic Celebration will be attended by about 65,000 believers of whom around 34,000 will be from BiH, 23,000 from Croatia and around 2,500 from Serbia. The rest will be from other countries of the world.

The program at the stadium begins with the arrival of the Holy Father by the popemobile from which he will greet the gathered mass.

After that the Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić will hand him the Key of the City and Charter on Awarding the Key to the City. It was designed and crafted by the BiH artist Salem Obralić.

The key was cast in bronze, polished and processed in a box of wild cherry wood. It is designed in the form of keys from the medieval era.

The key was engraved with places of worship, and the Šeherćehaja Bridge, as found on the coat of arms of the City of Sarajevo.

The award consists of a box with a key and the Charter text in Bosnian and Italian. In the top of the Charter the Višegrad Gate is embossed, a symbol of entry into the city.

Pope Francis will then go to the sacristy at the entrance to the stadium, after which the celebration of Mass begins.

When it comes to the offering of gifts, that honor went to the family of Petar and Milenka Ivančić with six children from Rama and the parish of the Sacred Heart in the Prozor Vrhbosna Archdiocese. They will offer gifts for the celebration of the Eucharist with Pope Francis – bread, wine and water.

They have five daughters and one son – Ružica, Zorica, Katarina, Marija and Lucija, and son Ivan, a seminarian of the Vrhobosna Archdiocese, which is nearing completion at the Theological Faculty in Sarajevo and close diaconal and priestly ordination.

According to the relevant provisions, there will be no offer of other gifts at, and also the Holy Father will not give communion to anyone.

Liturgical singing during the Eucharistic Celebration will be performed by the joint choirs from Archdiocese and Diocese of BiH, Croatia and other neighboring countries.

The director of liturgical singing and choir will be the conductor Rev. Mark Stanušić.
