Port Workers in Barcelona refuse to load Ships carrying Weapons for Israel

Spanish port workers in Barcelona have announced that they will refuse to load or unload ships carrying weapons for Israel.

“As a collective of workers, it is our duty to respect and fiercely defend the Universal Declaration of Human Rights,” said the OEPB, the only union representing about 12,000 workers at the port.

There was a call for a ceasefire and peaceful resolution of ongoing conflicts around the world, including the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

“That is why we have decided within the assembly not to allow ships with war material to sail in our port with the sole purpose of protecting any civilian population,” the statement added, stressing that “no reason justifies the death of civilians.”

Israel launched air and ground attacks on the Gaza Strip after a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on October 7th.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health announced on Tuesday that the number of victims of Israel’s intensified attack on the Gaza Strip since October 7th has risen to 10,328.

Among those killed there were 4,237 children and 2,719 women, ministry spokesman Ashraf al-Qudra said at a press conference. More than 25,956 people were wounded.

In addition to the large number of casualties and mass displacement, basic supplies are running out for the 2.3 million residents of Gaza due to the Israeli siege, Klix.ba reports.
