Possibility BiH-Moscow Flights

AVIONAirplanes from three airports in Banja Luka, Sarajevo and Mostar could fly to Moscow and back because there are serious indications for establishing direct lines.

For the establishment of lines the Russian company Moskovia Airlines expressed interest due to the large number of workers from BiH who work in that country, and due to the presence of BiH companies in that area. Many employees from BiH, most of all construction workers, for which there is a strong demand in Russia because there is currently construction of facilities for the use of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, use the airport in Belgrade in order to return to work after vacation.

For this reason, today in Moscow there will be a meeting of the top heads of these three airports with Michael Aleksejev, the Director of Moskovia Airlines.

At the meeting they will discuss the progress in airline connections of BiH tourist destinations and will be attended by Damir Hadžić, the Minister of Transport and Communication of BiH, Enver Bijedić, the Minister of Transport and Communication of FBiH and Branka Đurić, the Minister of Environment and Tourism of the FBiH.

Nezavisne Novine said that if these flights are established, there would first be a direct line from Sarajevo to Moscow, and later on Mostar to Moscow and then Banja Luka to Moscow.

“At this moment, it is most interesting that such an interest is expressed by companies from Russia, and regarding the interest of BiH, it is obviously a greater interest because there would be a greater engagement of airports in BiH. This implies a larger number of departing passengers and would increase the capacity of the airports that work with one objectively diminished capacity and this is an opportunity to expand it”, said Hadžić.

On the other hand, the Director of Aerodroma RS Davorin Mihić said that there is certainly a need to establish such lines.

“Therefore, by following JAT through Belgrade, a number of our workers and construction firms that go to Moscow, we can say that there is a need”, said Mihić.
