Member of the BiH Presidency Šefik Džaferović, said for the press that the Presidency at yesterday’s emergency session on the issue of migrant crisis that no decision was adopted since they were not supported by the BiH Presidency Chairman Milorad Dodik.

“As an initiator of the session, the BiH, the Presidency member Željko Komšić proposed three conclusions. One concerns the engagement of the BiH Armed Forces in protecting the border of Bosnia and Herzegovina from illegal migration. In this regard, the Presidency reached no consensus. Komšić and I voted in favor of such a decision, but Dodik voted agains, “said Džaferović.

The second conclusion was on the request to hold an extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of BiH with a proposal of comprehensive measures concerning the migrant crisis.

“The third conclusion was a request for an international agreement with the European Agency for Border and Coast Guard FONTEX, which Dodik also did not support,” said Džaferović, adding that the procedure is such that this agreement will be at the next session, and if it is not supported, then the institute of the vital national interest will be activated. The same applies to the request for the extraordinary session of the Council of Ministers of BiH.

He emphasized that Dodik proposed a conclusion requesting that the competent entity institutions and the state border police coordinate activities in the protection of the BiH border.

“Komšić and Dodik supported it, but I had reservations about it due to certain formulations. I hope that by the next session we will find a common ground when the formulation and the sequence of things are in question,” said Džaferović.

Speaking about his position, he said that BiH must protect the border from illegal migrants and that it is not right for only three cantons, with a special emphasis on the Una-Sana Canton, to carry the burden of this crisis. In this regard, he proposed that the migrants be distributed throughout the territory of BiH, but Dodik dismissed the proposal, Fena reports.
