The Prime Minister of the Republic of Croatia, Andrej Pleković, stated today in Banja Luka that he hopes that Bosnia and Herzegovina’s European path will accelerate.

“During every visit with European officials, we especially remember to advocate for the interests of BiH and its European path. This is our responsibility for all three constituent peoples in BiH, and we have special concern for the Croats in BiH. This is also our constitutional obligation, and we do this from the heart,” said Plenković.

He said that when he arrived in Banja Luka, he saw the new border crossing and that it looked great.

“I hope that it will be resolved soon,” added Plenković.

Banja Luka Bishop Željko Majić reminded that this is Plenković’s third visit to the Banja Luka diocese in the two years of his mandate.

“You politicians have a great responsibility to lead this people to live side by side, and never against each other,” said Majić.

On behalf of the Banja Luka diocese, Majić presented special letters of thanks to Plenković and Milorad Dodik, the former president of the RS, for the assistance provided.

This event at the Marija Zvijezda monastery was also attended by the Chairperson of the Council of Ministers Borjana Krišto, Acting President of the RS Ana Trišić-Babić, Deputy President of the RS from the Croat people Davor Prnjić, Prime Minister of the RS Savo Minić, Mayor of Banja Luka Draško Stanivuković, presidents of the SNSD and HDZ Milorad Dodik and Dragan Čović.

After visiting the monastery, Plenković will attend the laying of the foundation stone for the construction of a student-cultural pastoral center in Banja Luka, the construction of which is co-financed by the Government of the Republic of Croatia.
