Organisation for the development of regional tourism from Doboj ‘Rotor’ as a part of international project ‘Atrium’- Architecture of the 20th Century Totalitarian Regimes in urban management has organised today in Mostar a regional ‘Forum Media’.
According to the technical coordinator of the project Siniša Mitrović, the aim of the Forum is to present to public all the potential tourist attractions of urban places as a heritage of the 20th century totalitarian regimes, and note the role of media, public institutions and other in creating cultural route.
‘Twenty cities and municipalities of BiH are included in the implementation of the project ‘Atrium’: Mostar, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Travnik, Goražde, Doboj, Teslić, Zvornik, Bosanska Krupa, Kotor Varoš, Konjic, Novi Grad, Kozarska Dubica, Gračanica, Višegrad, Brčko Distrikt, Zenica, Stari Grad Sarajevo, Visoko, and Banovići’, said Mitrović.
Among others, Mostar entered the project with the rehabilitation of Partisan Memorial which was damaged in the last war, and after the war.
‘There is an approval of the competent FBIH institutions for the project and its rehabilitation is a must, because it is the monument which was a recognisable tourist spot on Mostar postcards’ said the manager of Stari Grad Agency Miralem Fajić.
It is a sad thing, said Mitrović, that many in BiH still don’t know that the totalitarian regime architecture can be economically used as a part of the Program of Trans-national cooperation of South Eastern Europe, and attract international tourist which are noted both by their spending and by the length of their stay.
The project involves 18 partners from 11 countries: Italy, Slovenia, Bulgaria, Hungary, Slovakia, Romania, Greek, Croatia, Serbia, Albania and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The BiH project is being implemented by ROTOR Organisation, which implemented projects of tourist valorisation of medieval architecture: Revitalization of Doboj fortress ‘Gradina’, construction of the Kotromanić’s Royal Village, as well as FESTTOUR- Festival of tourism of BiH and Western Balkans etc.
‘Apart from creating trans-national cultural route of SE Europe, and recognising the status of ‘European road of Culture’ by the Council of Europe, the project planned to create diverse tourist product of cultural tourism in BiH’ added Mitrović.
