Prosecutors Office proposed Custody for Two Citizens of Czech Republic

Having questioned the suspects, Prosecutor from the Special Department for Organized Crime, Economic Crime and Corruption of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina in charge of the case has put forward a Motion with the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina, seeking that the measure of custody be ordered against Petr Hofirek (1969) and Roman Sik (1983) from Brno, Czech Republic, both citizens of the Czech Republic.

The measure of custody has been proposed against the aforementioned  suspects for the reasons set forth in Article 132, paragraph 1, items a) and b) of the Criminal Procedure Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, namely, due to the existence of a reasonable fear that, if at large, the suspects might become unavailable to the judiciary of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as that they might hinder the criminal proceedings by influencing witnesses.

During the regular inspection of passengers at the International Border Crossing in Gradiska, police officers of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina detected the suspects and prevented them from smuggling a larger quantity of heroin, speed and marijuana-skunk narcotic drugs, as well as kits for consumption of narcotic drugs.

The suspects are subject to investigation due to the existence of a grounded suspicion that they committed the criminal offence of Illicit Trafficking in Narcotic Drugs, as referred to in Article 195, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 29 of the same Code.

The Motion for custody has been forwarded to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
