The Sarajevo City Council voted to cancel the public celebration of New Year’s Eve in this city due to the possible deterioration of the epidemiological situation.

This decision was made by a majority, with 20 votes in favor, 1against, while 4 councilors abstained from voting.

It has not yet been decided how the 50.000 BAM planned for the organization of the celebration will be spent. This decision should be made at the next session of the City Council.

As agreed at the session, the City, in cooperation with the Canton Sarajevo (CS) Tourist Board, will participate in creating an event that will revive the New Year’s spirit. Namely, the City, together with the municipalities and the Tourist Board of CS, planned to allocate a total of 300.000 BAM for New Year’s Eve.

The Crisis Staff of the Ministry of Health of the CS explainedthat they gave their clear guidelines for organizing such an event during the epidemic, but that they did not give any recommendations on not holding holidays.

They gave similar recommendations when it comes toorganizing the winter season on Bjelasnica and Igman.
