In the north of Herzegovina is one of the most beautiful lakes in our country. Many would say in Europe as well.

We are talking about the Ramsko Lake, or reservoir, created in 1968.

Surrounded by the steep ridge of the mountain massifs of Raduša, Makljena, Ljubuša and Vrana, it is the center of the tourist offer of the region.

Twelve kilometers long and 95 meters deep, its waters can fluctuate up to 50 meters.

Its islands and peninsulas give it a special beauty, and the most famous is the Šćit peninsula, whose shape reminds many of a guitar.

There is a Franciscan monastery on Šćit, and there is also the popular tavern Gaj. On the terrace, you can enjoy the beautiful view and local specialties. The most popular are homemade pie, lamb, veal, cheese etc.

Water preserves the memory of a past life

The cultural heritage and traditional way of life are immortalized here in the sculptures of the Ram Cross, the Last Supper, the mother in costume and the Grabovčeva woman, and there is also a museum display of a traditional house with an open fireplace, a carpentry workshop and other memories of life in this region.
