Analyses are related to the period from 2011 to 2015.

“Poultry industry is one of the most representative processing industries in our country, and thanks to the protection of domestic production, it managed to increase capacities that have been developed and that are still developing,” said Ognjenka Lalovic, director of sector of the economy in FTC BiH.

Serbia, Russia, Germany, Croatia and Sweden are the most important export markets, while raspberries, apples, pears, plums and cucumbers are the most competitive export products.

Raspberries is the last three years recorded an increase of 255 %, from 14 million BAM of exports in 2012 to 50,060,476 BAM that was recorded in 2015, which in kilograms amount to 10,267,725 kilograms.

There is parallel growth in the value of imports in this sector as well. Berries make 41 % of BiH exports in this sector 60 million BAM, while tropical fruits dominate imports, on which we depend.

In the sector of medicinal herbs and forest fruits are dominating mushrooms and forest fruits, whose harvest is characterized by oscillations depending on climatic conditions. The largest turnover is achieved in the category of dried mushrooms, which are followed by frozen and fresh ones. This sector has recorded a significant surplus that is visible in the past 5 years, with three times more exports than imports.

The main markets for the mushrooms are Western European countries – Italy, Switzerland, Germany, France and Slovenia.

Regardless of the decline in exports in 2015, the sector is extremely positive with the export-import coverage of 303 %.
