Tuesday, the 15th of September, is a great day for the cultural life of B&H: the day when the National Museum reopens its doors to visitors.

It was written a lot about the reasons for its closure back in October 2012. Media from all over the world reported about the neglect by the state and the institutions which represents the objectification of the national legacy, history and heritage.

However, it seems that the better days are coming for the National Museum.

The symbol of new era are children: those who will learn in the museum, find their inspiration and answers on many questions. Children will be the first visitors at the reopening of the National Museum today, on the 15th of September 2015.

Elementary school students from Sarajevo will be the first who will set foot through the main entrance of the Museum at 2 p.m. They will be accompanied by the Chairman of the Council of Ministers, Denis Zvizdić, the Minister of Civil Affairs, Adil Osmanović, and US Ambassador, Elizabeth Maureen Cormack.

The ceremonial entrance to the museum will be preceded by signing of the Memorandum of Understanding for support of the work of the cultural institutions of general significance and interest for B&H for the period 2016 – 2018. This ceremony will take place in the premises of B&H parliament, after which all signatories and guests will go to the National Museum by walking from the building of Parliament.

After the official opening ceremony takes place, the National Museum will be open to visitors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. To recall, Centrotrans provided free transportation to the Museum.

During the afternoon, entrance to the National Museum will be free of charge for all citizens.
