Yesterday morning was marked the beginning of the reconstruction of the last demolished mosque during the war in the Majlis of the Islamic Community in Mostar, the mosque of Hajji Salih Temim on Babun in the settlement Ilici near Mostar.
This act was attended by the Mufti of Mostar Salem ef. Dedovic, the President of Majlis of IC Mostar Ramiz Jelovac, Chief Imam Suljo ef. Cikotic and Imam in the Jamaat Balinovac Adnan ef. Jakirovic.
The reconstruction of the mosque in Babun, according to the Mufti of Mostar, is one of the most important events in Mostar, as it represents the reconstruction of the last mosque that was destroyed in Mostar.
According to the projections and plans of the Islamic Community, the entire locality around the mosque in Babun will be arranged, which includes the installation of a fence wall, landscaping, and removal of inappropriate vegetation.
“The Islamic Community, together with its members, is able to complete this reconstruction,” he said and added that according to the first estimates, the mosque should be restored in the next six months.
The mosque of Hajji Salih Temim in Ilici was constructed back in 1676 and was completely demolished in 1993.
