poslovne-zeneInternational Finance Corporation, member of World Bank Group is organising tomorrow in Sarajevo a regional conference on women in Supervisory and Management Boards and Women’s Leadership. The conference is organised in cooperation with Association of Women Entrepreneurs ‘One’ and with the help of Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs(SECO).

As a part of the conference, there will be a presentation of the Report on Representation of Women in Supervisory and Management Boards in BiH, Macedonia and Serbia.

Ambassador of Switzerland to BiH André Schaller, chief of IFC Office in BiH Lada Buševac and vice-president of Association of Women Entrepreneurs ‘One’ Vesna Beganović’ will talk to journalists.

IFC is promoting the importance of good corporative management for development of capital markets and success of companies for over ten years, as well as companies’ operative efficiency and access to capital.

The corporation is a pioneer and leader at global level concerning the practical application of standards of corporative management.

Buševac said that the having certain skills in supervisory and management boards is of key importance for proper functioning of the board and the company, and added that when all members of the board do their job in the same manner with same expertise, mistakes are bound to happen, which will reflect badly on the company.

Because of that, IFC insists on the need for different skills and approaches in every corporative board, and gender equality is just one of needed diversities for its proper functioning.

The aim of the Association of Business Women in BiH ‘One’ is to strengthen women entrepreneurs by offering them possibilities for making connections, offering expert advice about starting and developing of business and informing them about financial and educational possibilities.

‘With organised women entrepreneurship we try to strengthen negotiating positions and to improve business environment, taking into account all the specific business needs. The aim is to make social framework for development of women entrepreneurship through improvement of development policies which will enable, in the long term, creation of new jobs’, said Beganović.

Swiss program of cooperation in BiH has the aim to promote gender equality, which was noted at recently adopted Strategy of Swiss cooperation for BiH for period 2013-2016.

Swiss government is happy to support initiatives that serve as the proof that women in boards not only contribute to welfare of the company, but also serve as a platform for promotion of woman as a leader and manager, said IFC.
