In the territory of the Donji Vakuf municipality, in the Bijeli Harem cemetery, the remains of a victim of the last war were exhumed due to the taking of bone samples, the Institute for Missing Persons of Bosnia and Herzegovina (INO BiH) announced.

Emza Fazlić, spokeswoman for the Institute, explains that workers at this site recently, while digging a grave for a deceased person, found skeletal remains wrapped in a blanket, with some clothes on, which were exhumed due to the removal of bone samples.

“We assume that it is a victim of the past war and that it is actually a woman, so the bone samples were taken out so that the identification could be done immediately, and the remains were returned to the same place until the final identification,” explains Fazlić to Detektor.

After the remains were found, the competent services and the Institute were called, and in accordance with the order of the State Prosecutor’s Office, bone samples were taken at the exhumation site with the aim of identifying the victim using the DNA method.

The exhumation was carried out under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, and according to the order of the Court of BiH, according to the statement of the INO of BiH.
