Remembering the great and brave Citizen, Kurt Schork

He was killed at the age of 53 in Sierra Leone, on yesterday’s day in ambush, while he was performing the task for Reuters. Kurt Schork was reporting from war hell in Sarajevo, where he became known for making the story of the tragic death of a couple of lovers Bosko and Admira, later known as Sarajevo Romeo and Juliet.

After the famous reporter Kurt Schork died, according to his wish and after cremation, half of his ashes was buried next to his mother in Washington, and the other half on the cemetery Lav in Sarajevo, next to the grave of Bosko and Admira.

Schork was posthumously immortalized in Sarajevo, where a street is named after him. There is also a Memorial Fund of Kurt Schork and the award with his name is given to free local journalists, who give a critical contribution to international understanding. Kurt Schork knew that local journalists in their countries are exposed the most to risks in exposing corruption and injustice.
