Hotel_Zagreb,_SarajevoRenovation of the former hotel “Zagreb” on Marin Dvor, which for years is a threat for residents around, started this week.

The investor of works will comply with all the measures ordered by the Department for Protection of Monuments of FB&H and the Commission to Preserve National Monuments. The “Zagreb” hotel will be totally renovated, meaning it will be the same as it was before.

The internal and external appearance of the hotel will be the same as before to fit to the Marin Dvor look. Windows, doors and walls will also be identical. The purpose of the facility is yet unknown, but the work completion is planned until the end of the year.

The Department for Protection of Monuments has been informed about the start of works, and this institution will carry out expert supervision. Bricks from the building will be used for the exterior walls. This facility has a basement, ground floor and four floors.  It was built during the first phase of the Austro -Hungarian period. The facility experienced a radical transformation during two world wars, when the decorative elements were removed. The hotel is charted on the Austro -Hungarian map from 1898, which presents one of the first facilities in the series of facilities built on the Valter Perić street.
