miloradMilorad Dodik has said that the Serb Republic (RS) is turned to peace and freedom for all citizens regardless of their individual differences.

But it also wants to be respected and not be bypassed in global processes including EU integration, the RS leader said during a reception in Belgrade over the weekend to mark the anniversary the first Constitution of the Serb entity in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

Dodik said that the entity’s decision toward the EU “would depend on its fairness to everyone in Bosnia-Herzegovina,” Tanjug reported.

“The RS is very carefully analyzing the developments in the EU. In case the EU shows a selective attitude in Bosnia-Herzegovina, the RS will not accept the so-called European processes just because they stand for a promise of some distant perspectives and privileges which those who are already EU members have not felt either,” Dodik said.

He underscored that the entity was “grateful to Serbia as the signatory of the Dayton Treaty,” but called on the country to ask the high EU representative”to put forth a report on the implementation of the treaty.”

Dodik also said that the RS and Serbia “are not participating in any conspiracies but need to work together because they are home to Serbs and they each contribute to peace and stability in the region through their responsibilities.”

The RS was founded on January 9, 1992 and it adopted its first Constitution on February 28, 1992.

The reception to mark these two important dates was staged in the Belgrade City Assembly and was attended by Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic, Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic, RS Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic, Serbian ministers Velimir Ilic, Aleksandar Antic, Vanja Udovicic, as well as Patriarch Irinej of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Belgrade Mayor Sinisa Mali.
