Resident of Sarajevo provided Migrants who came to BiH a Roof over their Head

Around 25 migrants from all over the world, who were staying in the park across the City Hall in Sarajevo, will receive a roof over their heads soon, thanks to Lejla Dzaferagic from Sarajevo.

Men, women and children from Syria, Libya, Pakistan, Algeria, Morocco, Egypt and Tunisia spent days and nights in the open air in the capital city of BiH were only addressed and visited by officials of the Municipality of Stari Grad, although it was repeatedly concluded and noted at the meetings of higher officials in BiH that it represents a systemic problem, and that competent institutions have to get involved.

Lejla Dzaferagic from Sarajevo was emotionally touched by the fate of those migrants, and she decided to put her private business premises at their disposal.

These premises are located near the park, and a municipal official at the order of Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric visited the premises during the weekend. During his visit was concluded that these premises do not have adequate conditions, and it was decided for the Municipality to finance the adaptation of the premises and thus provide living conditions to these people.

It should be also stated that the citizens of Sarajevo, owners of catering facilities in this municipality and the people from the association Pomozi.ba are providing help for migrants every day.

Migrants do not speak English very well and they do not want to give statements to journalists, but they noted that BiH represents only a single stop on their way to the EU, where they are hoping to find a better future for their families.
