Members of the Association of patients with breast cancer and other malignant diseases “Biser” from Gorazde organized the action of registration of everyone interested in participation in this year’s traditional “Walk for Cure”, which will traditionally take place at the Wilson’s Promenade in Sarajevo at the beginning of October.

“We are part of this project for several years, and most of the associations that are gathering patients who suffer from cancer and other malignant illnesses in other cities are organizing this action at the same time as well. Our main goal is to raise funds for helping people and providing the necessary medical examinations in places where there is no adequate equipment for that,” said Mersiha Nogo Pecikoza from the association “Biser”.

She also explained that this kind of support for women who suffered from cancer recorded positive results in BiH. Namely, from the funds collected in this way, especially in the rural parts of BiH, free mammographic examinations have been provided, the purchase of the necessary medications was enabled, and the awareness of the illness itself and the need for prevention was raised as well.

She noted that everyone who wants to support this fight against breast cancer and other malignancies can register for a walk during the month of September and everyone can buy shirts at the premises of the association “Biser”.

The traditional “Walk for Cure” gathers citizens from all parts of our country. That’s why last year in the United States, where the idea was started, it received the award for the most successful International Walk for Cure.
