Restoration of the Railway from Sarajevo to Dalmatia to be finished soon

railwaysSouth railway from Sarajevo to the border with Croatia should be completely reconstructed by the April 2016.

Works on the reconstruction of this section are being finalized and they are currently performed on 36 kilometers long part of the section between the capital of B&H and Bradina.

Works have started this summer, and the contractors are GCF-Generale Costruzioni Ferroviarie from Rome and B&H company Hering Ltd. from Siroki Brijeg.

The total value of the works is 25.5 million BAM, and the project is funded under the regional project of reconstruction of railways in B&H, with the help of two major European development banks, EBRD from London and the EIB from Luxembourg.

“Repair of the railway from Konjic to Bradina was completed back in 2010, the repair of the railway from Capljina ( on the border crossing with Croatia) to Konjic was completed last year, and the reconstruction of the remaining 36 kilometers of railway from Bradina to Sarajevo is currently taking place”, as announced from the Railways of the FB&H.

Besides the reconstruction of the railway, very important signalization will be repaired as well, and works should be completed by the April 2016.
