Royal Jordanian Airlines is considering the introduction of flights between Amman and Sarajevo from the next year.

In their statement, the airline noted that launching new destinations is part of the plan of major changes that includes, among other things, a continuous assessment of their network of routes, whose aim is increasing traffic to Jordan as well as improvement of connectivity through their base in Amman.

“We are currently conducting a feasibility study. A new route can help our tourism, make it easier for business people, and improve trade,” as said in a statement.

According to portal the ExYuAvation, this was announced a few days after the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Bakir Izetbegovic, attended the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan Ayman Safdi, with whom he discussed the establishment of potential flights between the two countries.

Royal Jordanian Airlines is present on the market of BiH through the contract with Turkish Airlines and it operates on the route Sarajevo-Istanbul, Istanbul-Amman. This airline was also part of the Jordanian consortium that offered 48 % share in the former BH Airlines in 2008. Their offer was in the second place, just behind Turkish Airlines.

On the other side, the need of citizens of the gulf countries to travel to Sarajevo is increasing. The airport now has uninterrupted services to the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and until recently Kuwait. Moreover, Kuwait Airways and Gulf Air also expressed interest in the establishment of flights to Sarajevo.
