United States (U.S.) Secretary of State Marco Rubio, asked about Israeli attacks on Syria, stated that the U.S. is concerned, adding that he had just spoken by phone with relevant parties.

“We will work on this issue as we speak. I just finished a phone call with the relevant parties. We are very concerned about it and hope that we will have some updates during the day. However, we are very concerned about it,” said Rubio, adding that the U.S. wants the fighting to stop because clashes between Syrian government troops and local Druze broke out a few hours after the ceasefire agreement.

A senior U.S. official said that the administration of President Donald Trump once again requested that Israel halt its attacks on Syria and begin dialogue with the government in Damascus.

It was not specified whether this request came before or after the Israeli attacks on the Syrian military headquarters and near the presidential palace in Damascus.
