Russian Ambassador to the UN Security Council stated that “BiH is no longer a Sovereign Country”

A session was held in the United Nations (UN) Security Council two days ago, on April 30th, regarding the situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and the Russian ambassador to this body, Vasily Nebenzya, also spoke.

This session was convened at the request of Russia, during which a member of the Presidency of BiH, Zeljka Cvijanovic, the High Representative in our country Christian Schmidt, and numerous other officials also addressed the Council.

“Here we often hear that the Security Council has an obligation to prevent conflict, many talk about it as something of utmost importance. The situation in BiH is an example of where the Security Council can act. The BiH war is one of the most contradictory chapters in terms of the international community’s response. Srebrenica is not the only bloody page of this war; the UN must not repeat its mistakes,” Nebenzya said.

Nebenzya expressed the view that BiH “is no longer a sovereign country.”

“The recent events in the past months speak of an unforgivable violation of the premises of this agreement. This continues, and we have warned about it. BiH no longer has the status of a sovereign and independent state. It is hard to believe that the greatest authority is in the hands of a German citizen who acts for small groups and uses Bonn’s powers for their interests. He behaves like a monarch, and Western promoters of democracy support him,” commented the Russian ambassador on the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt.

Moreover, he believes that a certain part of the population in BiH disagrees with the adoption of the Resolution on the genocide in Srebrenica, which will be discussed in early May at the UN General Assembly.

In addition to the Russian representative, representatives of China, France, and the United Kingdom (UK) also spoke.

The Chinese representative, Geng Shuang, referred to the genocide in Srebrenica as a “massacre,” thus avoiding the legal qualification confirmed by the judgments of the International Tribunal in The Hague. He also emphasized that the official Beijing opposes “imposing solutions in BiH” and that this country will not support a resolution in the UN General Assembly for which there is no consensus, Klix.ba reports.
