The 300-year-old icon, presented to Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov by the Chairman of Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina Milorad Dodik, will be returned to the donor, the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

“The icon will be returned for further clarification of its history through Interpol,” it was said, Russia Today reported, referring to the RIA agency.

Dodik donated a 300-year-old gilded Lavra icon, which was found in Lugansk. A stamp is imprinted on the back of the icon points out on the authenticity.

The Embassy of Ukraine in our country had sought an explanation from the BiH Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Due to the scandal that broke out, and about which the regional and world media wrote, the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH has formed a case and will perform the necessary checks.
