Santicev-festival-djece-pjesnikaThe first international Šantić’s festival of children poets ended in Mostar last with the awarding of prizes, which was organized by the Serbian Educational Society ‘Prosvjeta’ on occasion of the 90th anniversary since the death of the poet Aleksa Šantić.

The first award of the festival went to Serbia and Macedonia-Tamara Sokolov from Belgrade and Sara Georgijev from Kumanov. An expert jury was composed of Mirsad Bećirbašić, Alma Fazil-Obad, Božo Kijac and Ivana Talić. The second award went to Jaki Lesjek from Velenje, Slovenia, and the third prize went to Naida Džiho from Mostar.

‘’The best proof that love and poetry can unite what evil people do are these young poets, ambassadors of love and culture who spent two days in our Mostar’’, said the Director of this festival Goran Kosanić.

As part of the festival, children poets laid flowers around the grave of Aleksa Šantić, and as well as his poems wrapped in carnations, and performed a special program by reciting his poems in front of a monument dedicated to this poet.

They also laid flowers at the graves of Svetozar Ćorović and Osman Đikić, and a delegation of ‘Prosvjeta’ visited the grave of the longtime leader of this organization, Ratko Pejanović.
