dino 2Sarajevo Canton Representative Body to Brussels and EPA Association organised yesterday in Brussels a round table on topic ‘Erasmus for Everyone: Innovation and Possibilities for Southeast Europe/ Western Balkans’ where they discussed about how this program affects student exchange programs and the exchange of academic staff, reports Fena.

Representative of Sarajevo Canton to Brussels Dino Elezović, Catherine Henriot from the Directorate of Education, International Cooperation and Programs, Eva Reina – project manager of UNICA and Geert de Lepeleer from the College of International Relations KaHo Sint Lieven.

‘ This round table has the aim to bring the ‘Program: Erasmus for Everyone’ closer to Balkan states’, said Elezović during his presentation of the European Project Association (EPA) Committee for Southeast Europe headed by Sarajevo Canton Representative Body.

According to him, the goal of the Committee is to strengthen the over-border cooperation with countries of the region and countries of the EU, and to inform them and point out on possibilities of future cooperation with countries of the Western Balkans.

Committee follows European macro-regional policies, especially Danubian and Adriatic-Ionic region, in which BiH is also included.

Although thanks to program ‘Erasmus for all’ more than 5 million people got the opportunity to study abroad, Reina noted that there is an increased competition when applying to funds, because of the increase of the program.

The new program should start in 2014 and the money that will be allocated in the period 2014-2020 will be around 19 billion EUR, which is 11 billion more than in the period 2007-2013.

Program ‘Erasmus for all’ is intended for EU countries, Iceland, Lichtenstein, Norway, Switzerland and candidate states that use pre-accession funds.

Next round table will be held in mid-September in the premises of the KS Representative Body and it will tackle the issue of environment policies of the EU during which current projects of environment protection of Sarajevo Canton will be presented.
