The largest scientific event in the region, the 13th day of BHAAAS, was officially opened yesterday night at the Sarajevo City Hall.

In his address, BHAAAS President Ismar Volic said that the 13th BHAAAS Days in Sarajevo would bring together some of the biggest scientific names in the region and the world, from almost all disciplines.

“The greatest attention of this year’s event is dedicated to medical disciplines and sustainable development. The focus of the BHAAAS mission is young people – students, and this year a special program is dedicated to them,” said Volic.

The Rector of the University of Sarajevo, Rifat Skrijelj, expressed his gratitude to all the lecturers who will share their knowledge, experience and research gained around the world during this “impressive gathering”.

“The University of Sarajevo fully supports the goals of the BHAAAS and is aware that the scientific development of BiH requires the essential engagement of professional capacities that BiH undoubtedly possesses. The diaspora is gathered within the BHAAAS and is active in all parts of the world,” said Skrijelj.

The participants in this scientific event were also greeted by Courtney Chubb, USAID Mission Secretary in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Sarajevo Canton Prime Minister Edin Forto.

The distinguished pianist, composer, conductor and arranger Sinan Alimanovic had his short concert at the opening ceremony. This year’s cultural and artistic program also includes two art exhibitions.

In the period from June 23 to 26, 33 symposia are planned at four locations, with lecturers from 26 countries who will hold over 350 presentations and lectures. In addition, the 13th Days of BHAAAS in BiH will implement 16 workshops and round tables, as well as special programs for sustainable development.
