sarajevo2During the meeting of the mayors of Sarajevo and Dubrovnik Ivo Komšić and Andro Vlahušić in Dubrovnik, an initiative was launched for Sarajevo to become a full member of the Network of Mediterranean Cities.

Meeting of the two mayors and representatives of the Network of Mediterranean Cities (MedCities) was held within the session of the General Assembly in Dubrovnik that lasts for these two days. It was initiated that Sarajevo becomes a full member of this organization.

“At first, one would say that Sarajevo as a continental city has nothing to do with the Mediterranean cities and that there is no special link between Dubrovnik, Sarajevo and Barcelona. However, similarities certainly exist since those cities, just like Sarajevo, integrated different traditions and cultures in them through history. I will personally strive to make Sarajevo a part of MedCities”, Komšić highlighted and thanked the Mayor of Dubrovnik for the invitation to attend this significant gathering.

Vlahušić said that Sarajevo is a partner city of Dubrovnik and Barcelona and that closes the triangle of cooperation in the Mediterranean.
