A lot of dust has been raised in recent days about the Euroleague match between Dubai and Hapoel, which will be played on Thursday in Sarajevo.

Hapoel basketball players landed from Tel Aviv to Sarajevo this afternoon, and the arrival of the Israeli club in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina has also caused a lot of controversy, and a certain number of citizens protested today in front of the Sarajevo Canton Government building, where they tried to forcefully enter the session.

BH Hooligans, a newly established fan group of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, also called on citizens to protest on Thursday at 6:00 PM, an hour before the start of the match, in the parking lot in front of Zetra.

Regarding the new situation, we contacted the Ministry of Interior of Sarajevo Canton and asked for an answer to the question of whether the match can be held, considering that it is undoubtedly a high-risk match.

“On 29. 10. 2025, the Association for the Promotion of Sports KK Royal, as a co-organizer of the international basketball match within the 9th round of the Euroleague, submitted to the competent police department PU Centar, an application for holding a public event – playing a match between the BC Dubai Basketball club and Hapoel IBI Tel Aviv on November 6, 2025, in the Zetra hall.

In accordance with the Conclusion of the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo, No. 02-04-48342-4/25 of 03.10.2025 (“Official Gazette of the Canton of Sarajevo”, No. 41/25 of 16.10.2025), the Ministry of Interior of the Canton of Sarajevo – Police Administration carries out all activities prescribed by the provisions of the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Inappropriate Behavior at Sports Events (“Official Gazette of the Canton of Sarajevo”, No. 7/07 and 23/07) and the Law on Public Gathering (“Official Gazette of the Canton of Sarajevo”, No. 32/09 and 11/11).

In relation to the fact that the announcement itself by the organizer stated the Euroleague’s assessment that this was a high-risk match, the organizer informed the Police Directorate ‘that there will be no organized arrival of visiting fans’, and that the visiting club ‘has not announced or organized the travel of its fans for this match’.

In accordance with the assessment made, the Police Directorate of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior ordered the organizer to take all legally prescribed measures that are taken at increased-risk sports events, and which must be respected in order for the sports event to be held at all.

At the same time, the Police Directorate of the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior will act according to the drawn up Security Plan (physical, operational, counter-sabotage and traffic security)”, is the response we received from the Sarajevo Canton Ministry of Interior, with an important note:
“We also inform you that only the organizer can cancel the event, and the Police Directorate can “prohibited if and when the legally prescribed conditions are met,” they added.

Recall that the Dubai – Hapoel match will be played on Thursday in Zetra starting at 7:00 PM.

Regarding tickets, all season tickets purchased for KK Bosna BH Telecom matches in the 2025/2026 season will be valid for this match, while tickets for free sale can be found on the entrio.ba website, exclusively for the West Stand, at prices ranging from 10 to 30 BAM, Klix.ba writes.
