Sarajevo: Isa-Bey’s Hamam to be Fully Reconstructed

hamamThe oldest Turkish bath in Sarajevo, Isa-Bey’s Hamam will soon return its old glory after it was neglected for years. This project will return another pearl of old architecture to Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The reconstruction of this national monument in BiH is in full swing. Currently, work is being done on installation, heating and cooling system.

 

The facility is placed on 817 square meters and during the reconstruction the original façade, which was projected by Josip Vrancas, is taking place The hamam will be turned to a hotel with a capacity of 19 rooms and two suits. All furniture will be in old, high standard Ottoman style.

 

All construction materials which are built into the facility are authentic. This is concerned with old materials which are used during the Austro-Hungarian empire. The

In the center of the facility is the hamam with a one great central dome and three smaller ones. They will be the most representative part of the hotel since it will be authentically reconstructed. It will be decorated with Spanish ceramics and frescos.

Around 20 percent of works on the hamam are yet to be completed. Soon, finer works will begin and the decoration of the interior will be done by the owner of the hotel.
