In October, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Sarajevo Canton chose a company for the procurement of mini video cameras that will be worn by police officers on their uniforms, and delivery is expected in the second quarter of 2024.

With the decision of October 25 this year, the police commissioner of the Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Internal Affairs (MUPKS) Police Administration made a decision on the selection of the most favorable bidder and the award of the contract.

In fact, the decision accepted the earlier recommendation of the commission for the procurement of mini video cameras for the needs of the KS MUP Police Administration. The contract was awarded to the bidder “Mibo komunikacije” Sarajevo, and the contract is worth 418,795 BAM without VAT.
Given that the story about the cameras that Sarajevo police officers will wear on their uniforms is finally taking its final form, Klix.ba asked the line ministry led by Minister Admir Katica when we could expect the delivery and eventual use of body cameras.

Minister Katica points out that he is happy that he finally has the opportunity to talk about when the use of body cameras will start, instead of the previous topics about when the tender will be announced.

“The public is aware of the fact that the KS MUP has been insisting on the acquisition of these cameras for a long period of time, which will underline our determination in the fight to protect police officers, but also citizens who interact with them. As early as 2021, on my initiative, the CS Government has earmarked 490,000 BAM for this purpose, and after the completion of this procedure, our police will be the first in BiH with cameras on their uniforms,” Katica explained.

The deadline for the delivery of the mini cameras is 90 days from the day of the mutual signing of the contract, and the delivery is thus expected in the second quarter of 2024.

“In this way, we deal a strong blow to potential corrupt actions, and we are proud of that. To begin with, our goal is for these cameras to be used by members of the Traffic Unit, and in the future we will include other units according to priorities. After the end of the public procurement procedure, the bidder will to deliver the devices within the legal deadline,” concludes Minister Katica in his answer to Klix.ba.
