Sarajevo Times and the Green Home Construction company hosted members of the diplomatic corps at iftar in Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital Sarajevo on Wednesday evening.

Ambassador of Austria Ulrike Hartmann, Egypt Yasser Sorour, Italy Marco di Ruzza, Malaysia Raja Saifful Ridzuwan bin Raja Kamaruddin, Norway Stefan Almehagen Sandstad, the Slovak Republic, Roman Hlobeň and spouse Mrs. Lucia Hlobeňová, Romania Anton Pacuretu and spouse Mariana Pacuretu, Sweden Helena Lagerlöf, federal ministers, mayors of municipalities in Sarajevo, deputy mayor of Sarajevo, artists shared the joy of iftar and presented the unity in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

“Our journey with Sarajevo Times began on BiH Statehood Day, November 25, 2012, with the aim of promoting positive news from BiH and helping the homeland towards a better future. For 11 years in a world where information is abundant, but clarity is scarce, Sarajevo Times stands high in precise reporting and insightful analysis,” Zejna Yesilyurt, owner of Sarajevo Times, stated in her speech, adding that the publication, with its analysis, encourages thinking, understanding and bridges divisions, promoting unity in a world that is too often divided by differences.

She continued by saying how she is honored to be a part of the process of BiH towards the EU, together with the ambassadors of the EU member states who are present at the iftar, adding that there were numerous statements of support to BiH’s European path by ambassadors in BiH.

”Example of one of the strong statements that happened yesterday is the one by the ambassador of Italy in BiH, Marco di Ruzza, who said that his country will do everything for the European Council to decide on starting negotiations with BiH,” Mrs. Yesilyurt added.

For his part, owner and general director of the Green Home Construction, Selcuk Yesilyurt, highlighted the fact that we have very dear guests who share the same table. Respected ambassadors, ministers, mayors, successful businessmen from different parts of the country, priests, security officers, dear artists and friends of all colors, nations and religions – are here together, which is very significant, reflecting the true spirit of Ramadan.

“For the last two or three years, we have also been building bridges and viaducts. Every year we try to enrich our beautiful Bosnia and Herzegovina with new facilities. People who live in the buildings we built become neighbors and build friendships. In business premises, people work, earn money. With bridges and viewpoints, we try to shorten distances so that your loved ones can meet faster,” Mr. Yesilyurt said.

He added that what he especially appreciates is the building of new bridges of love between the hearts of people of different opinions and beliefs, as is the case at the iftar.

”I hope that through evenings like these we will achieve that goal of unity,” he said in the speech.

One topic that he wanted to highlight is Sebilj, the water fountain, located in Bascarsija, the place that always gathers people around it.

“Sebilj is generous, does not discriminate between people and lives for other people’s happiness. Likewise, it has lived for many centuries in Sarajevo and other parts of the world,” Mr. Yesilyurt concluded his speech.

Guided by the idea of sharing the joy of Ramadan with others, this iftar dinner was organized with an aim to represents a symbol of togetherness, solidarity and respect for diversity, and to provide an opportunity to build cooperation and mutual respect between Bosnia and Herzegovina and other countries.
