25th of November marks a significant day in the history of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Commemorating the 25th of November as Statehood Day of Bosnia and Herzegovina connected to the historic session of ZAVNOBiH (BiH State Anti-Fascist Council for People’s Liberation) which took place 80 years ago and reflecting on this pivotal moment from BiH’s past, the High Representative remarked that this generation of BiH leaders has to focus their energy on making the BiH institutions to work collaboratively towards a prosperous and united future.

“The institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, established through the Dayton Agreement in 1995, play a vital role in maintaining peace, stability, and democratic governance. As we remember the session of ZAVNOBIH, we emphasize the importance of these institutions working in harmony to address the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The collaboration between the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Parliamentary Assembly, the Council of Ministers and Governments of two BiH entities is essential for fostering a climate of cooperation, inclusivity, and progress. BiH leaders can build a future that promotes the values of tolerance, diversity, and mutual respect”, said HR Schmidt.

Maintaining a diverse and inclusive society is a fundamental cornerstone in ensuring a stable and harmonious environment within the country, setting the stage for a promising future, particularly in the context of BiH’s aspirations to join the European Union. In a Europe that cherishes diversity and unity in equal measure, Bosnia and Herzegovina’s unique composition positions it as a potential bridge between different cultures and traditions based on the historic legacy of ZAVNOBIH and by upholding the principles embedded in the Dayton Agreement.
