Screening of Film showing Ratko Mladic on the Anniversary of the Genocide in Srebrenica

Last night, in the Serbian cultural center “Sveti Despot Stefan Lazarevic” in Srebrenica, the nationalist pro-Russian association “Eastern Alternative” held a screening of a film in which the legally convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic speaks.

On the 27th anniversary of the commemoration of the genocide in Srebrenica, just a few kilometers from the Potocari Memorial Center where 50 more victims were buried yesterday, a screening of the shameful film about the “liberation of Srebrenica” was held, in which the former commander of the Main Staff of the Army of the Republika Srpska (RS) and convicted war criminal Ratko Mladic appeared.

The title of the film is “Crime without punishment – the suffering of Serbs in central Podrinje”, and the topic is “the liberation of Srebrenica on July 11th from the criminal hordes”. Ten people attended the screening.

Vojin Pavlovic, president of the “Eastern Alternative” association, previously told BIRN BiH that the film will show the testimonies of those who participated in what he calls the liberation of Serbian villages, as well as soldiers and generals of the RS Army, and also raw footage from that period.

“I said it and I stand by it. Whatever Naser Oric is to Bosniaks, General Mladic is the same for me, and that’s a clear story. Whoever is afraid to say that, he does not think well of his people. This is my opinion and nobody can drive that out of my heart, and whether he is a criminal, well for some he is, for some he is not. Naser is a hero for the vast majority of Bosniaks, and Mladic is a historical figure who is three classes higher and better than Naser as a man and as a fighter.” Pavlovic said last night.

In June of last year, the association also held a screening of the film in honor of Mladic in Bratunac.

To recall, the Mechanism for International Criminal Courts in The Hague issued a second-instance verdict last year confirming Mladic‘s life sentence for the genocide in Srebrenica.

Humiliation of genocide victims and their family members is not uncommon. Just three days ago, on the road that leads from Bratunac to the Potocari Memorial Center, ahead of the anniversary of the genocide, a series of photographs were placed showing the fallen members of the RS Army, whose soldiers and commanders committed the genocide.

With the amendments to the national Criminal Code imposed by the former high representative in July 2021, in addition to the ban on denying genocide and other war crimes, it became punishable by at least three years in prison to grant recognition, awards, monuments or any reminder to a person convicted by a final verdict for genocide, crime against humanity or war crime, Klix.ba writes.
