sejfo-sehovicSejfo Šehović from Sarajevo won two golden medals for BiH last year in Las Vegas at the World Championship in powerlifting. In early December this year, at the World Championship in Moscow he became a champion in deadlift, where he broke the world record in this discipline.

“I represented BiH in Russia in powerlifting and deadlift at the World Championship. I managed to win three medals, and I broke the world record in deadlift by lifting 230 kilograms with my weight of 72 kilograms, with doping control. The record is 15 kilograms higher than the previous one,” said Šehović.

Šehović said that he is happy because of this success, since 4.500 contestants participated in the competition.

“After I became a champion in Las Vegas, I managed to reach the top in Moscow as well. This result is even more important because this is the most popular sport in Russia. It is a great honor for me to bring the gold under the BiH flag and I am honored for representing BiH. I won the first place and broke the world record. One must be satisfied with that,” said Šehović.

Šehović was Balkan champion twice. He won titles in Slovenia and Serbia, also, he became the European Champion in England and gained right to participate in the mentioned World Championship in the USA. After the success in Moscow, he ensured BiH the organization of the World Cup in March 2017 in Sarajevo.
