Šešelj cannot be banned from entering BiH since he probably holds dual Citizenship?

12968698_1147937381923883_525720928_nAfter the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia (ICTY) last week acquitted Vojislav Šešelj making him a free man, information appeared that the leader of the Serbian radicals will visit BiH.

Minister of Security of BiH Dragan Mektić highlights that there is a possibility to prohibit Šešelj from entering BiH, but that it depends on the assessment by the Intelligence and Security Agency of BiH (OSA).

“There is a possibility to ban Šešelj from entering the country, but there may not be a need for that. Allegedly, since 1998 there has been a decision by the high representative Carlos Westendorp who banned Šešelj from entering BiH, but that information is still in the process of verification,” Mektić said.

On the other side, information is also being verified about whether Vojislav Šešelj holds the BiH citizenship. If that is confirmed, no service or ministry can ban Šešelj to enter BiH.

“We are still waiting for official confirmation, but it is very likely that Šešelj holds the BiH citizenship,” Mektić said.

Shortly after the pronouncement of the verdict, Šešelj announced a visit to Croatia and BiH, where he intends to support the branch of Serbian Radical Party in Republika Srpska prior to local elections in BiH.

Šešelj also announced a visit to Sarajevo, but it remains to be seen whether that will happen or not.
