Sarajevo International Airport is exploring the possibility of launching direct flights to several major Spanish cities following talks between Airport CEO Dino Selimović and the Spanish Ambassador to Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The discussions focused on establishing air connections with Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga, as well as developing cooperation with leading Spanish carriers, including Iberia, Vueling and Air Europa.
Selimović emphasized that introducing direct flights would significantly improve Bosnia and Herzegovina’s connectivity, while also stimulating tourism and strengthening economic relations between the two countries.
He noted that routes to Madrid, Barcelona and Malaga would not only facilitate travel between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Spain but also provide passengers with convenient onward connections to destinations in the Canary and Balearic Islands, as well as South America and Africa.
The meeting also covered opportunities to jointly promote Bosnia and Herzegovina as a tourist destination in the Spanish market, with particular attention given to year-round tourism and attractions such as Sarajevo, Mostar and Međugorje.
At present, Sarajevo Airport is connected to Spain through Ryanair’s seasonal service to Girona.
