SIPA arrested One Person for making Serious Threats to the EU Special Representative in BiH

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, together with the State Investigation and Protection Agency-SIPA, carried out activities aimed at locating, identifying and arresting an individual suspected of endangering internationally protected persons and of an attack against an official person on tasks of security, detection and apprehension of perpetrators of criminal offences.

Following the investigative activities, which have been carried out upon the order of a Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina and in cooperation with the police officers of the State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA), a suspect Ranko Petrović, born in 1990 in Tuzla, was located in the area of Lipnica near Tuzla and subsequently arrested.

The aforementioned suspect is under investigation and he is charged with making serious threats to the EU Special Representative in BiH, H.E. Lars-Gunnar Wigemark, and to the Chief Prosecutor of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Gordana Tadić, through public comments to the news published on the internet portal www.klix.ba.

The suspect was leaving messages and comments, visible to all readers and users, in which he was making serious threats and calling for an attack on the aforementioned persons.

The suspect is subject to investigation due to the commission of the criminal offence of Endangering Internationally Protected Persons, as referred to in Article 192 of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the criminal offence of Attack against Official Persons on Tasks of Security, Detection and Apprehension of Perpetrators of Criminal Offences, as referred to in Article 241b. of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Having questioned the suspect, the Prosecutor in charge of this case will make a decision regarding the motion for custody and further activities in this case.
