Six Persons in Montenegro accused of Smuggling 2.5 tons of Cocaine

The Special Prosecutor’s Office in Montenegro charged six people with smuggling 2.5 tons of cocaine and 59 kilograms of methamphetamine.

The indictment was submitted to the High Court in Podgorica against Zoran Kovačević, Nenad Novović, Nedeljko Brkan, Milovan Burić, Rad Vojvodić and Zoran Drešić, Podgorica media reports.

Special Prosecutor Vukas Radonjić said that these persons were charged with the criminal offenses of creating a criminal organization and unauthorized production, possession and distribution of drugs.

“There is a reasonable suspicion that, as members of a criminal organization, carrying out a criminal plan, they smuggled for sale 150 kilograms of cocaine and 59 kilograms of methamphetamine, by sea, from Belgium to near Australia, in the period from September to December 2020,” explained Radonjić.

According to him, the face of M.B. was accused of smuggling 380 kilograms of cocaine across the North Sea to Sweden in May 2020, and together with Z.K. and for smuggling 1,834 kilograms of cocaine for sale, from South America to Spain from the end of January to the second half of February 2021.

“The defendants M.B. and N.B. are charged with the criminal offense of unauthorized production, possession and distribution of drugs, due to smuggling for the purpose of selling 199 kilograms of cocaine, by sea, from Belgium to near Australia, in the period from the end of January to the middle of March 2021, Radonjić pointed out.

In the indictment, it was proposed that the defendants’ detention be extended.
