Snow hampers Traffic across the Country, long Retentions at Border Crossings

Due to the intensive snowfall, traffic is difficult in most parts of our country. We are particularly warning about sections in higher mountain areas.

Due to snowfall, traffic for freight vehicles has been suspended on sections of the main roads Zvornik-Tuzla (Crni Vrh), Vlasenica-Sokolac (Han Pogled), Konjic-Bradina, Travnik-Donji Vakuf (Komar) and Sarajevo-Pale (Romanija). Passenger vehicles are having difficulty driving, with mandatory winter equipment and increased caution.

The use of chains for freight vehicles is recommended over the mountain passes Karaula, Nišići, Makljen, Mlinište, Borova Glava and Čemerno.

On the main road Jablanica-Blidinje, traffic is allowed for vehicles up to 3.5 tons, while traffic for vehicles over 3.5 tons is still suspended.

Due to winter driving conditions in the Republic of Croatia, a traffic ban for trucks with trailers and tractors is in effect at the Izačić border crossing. There are long lines of passenger vehicles exiting Bosnia and Herzegovina at the border crossings: Izačić, Hadžin Potok, Velika Kladuša, Novi Grad, Kozarska Dubica, Kostajnica, Gradina, Gradiška, Brod, Orašje, Brčko and Svilaj. At other border crossings, passenger vehicle traffic occasionally increases, but for now it flows with delays of up to 30 minutes.

Due to the registration of passengers under the new system of exit and entry into the countries of the European Union (EES, Entry/Exit System), longer delays at border crossings are possible.

The Brčko border crossing is open to passenger vehicles up to 3.5 tons. As of 2 December 2025, the Karakaj border crossing is open to all vehicle categories. Traffic for all trucks is prohibited at the Šepak border crossing.
