Solak and Hodzic are asking for a Delay in Postponement of Prison Sentence

Fahrudin Solak and Fikret Hodžić, who were legally convicted of abuses during the procurement of ventilators during the coronavirus pandemic, submitted a request to the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina for a postponement of the execution of the prison sentence, the State Court told Detektor.

The Court did not answer which dates were previously set for referral to serving prison terms.

“The application for the postponement of the execution of the prison sentence was submitted to the Court by the convicted Fahrudin Solak and Fikret Hodžić, while the convicted Fadil Novalić, for now, has not submitted the application for the postponement of the execution of the prison sentence,” it is stated in the answer of the Court.

The Appellate Panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the verdict by which the former federal prime minister Novalić, the suspended director of the Federal Administration of Civil Protection Solak and the owner of the company “F.H. Srebrena malina” Hodžić were sentenced to a total of 15 years in prison for abuses during the procurement of respirators worth 10.5 million marks during the coronavirus pandemic.

Novalić was sentenced to four years in prison, Solak to a single sentence of six years, and Hodžić to five years in prison.

The legal entity “Srebrena malina” was declared responsible for disposing of illegally acquired property and was fined 200,000 BAM, which must be paid within 60 days from the date of the ruling.

By the same decision, the former Federal Minister of Finance Jelka Miličević was acquitted of the charge of negligent work in the service.
