Ambassador Luigi Soreca, Head of the European Union Delegation and EU Special Representative to Bosnia and Herzegovina, stressed the importance of unity among political leaders and accelerated progress towards European integration in Mostar on Wednesday.

“We are witnessing a certain degree of positive atmosphere among political leaders regarding the Growth Plan and the Reform Agenda,” said Ambassador Soreca, but he warned that concrete results are still awaited. According to him, the European Union wants Bosnia and Herzegovina to follow the rest of the region in taking advantage of the significant benefits brought by the Growth Plan.

In addition, he put special emphasis on the key conditions required for the formal opening of accession negotiations.

“The domestic authorities are very well aware of what these expectations are. We expect the adoption of four laws and three appointments, including the appointment of the Chief Negotiator. We have all witnessed certain progress in recent weeks,” the Ambassador noted.

He added that a meeting of the leaders of the ruling coalition is planned for next Monday in Mostar, and expressed hope that such meetings will bring concrete results.

“The message is very clear. The door is open, the time is now. We expect results because we want BiH to continue its path towards the EU, to which it belongs,” Ambassador a concluded, Federalna writes.
