Soreca: Today BiH took an important Step towards the EU

The Head of the EU Delegation to BiH, Luigi Soreca, welcomed the signing of the Frontex agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the European Union, and stressed that BiH has taken an important step towards the EU.

“This agreement will enable Frontex to deploy officers in Bosnia and Herzegovina with executive powers to support the BiH authorities in their border management operations. This means more staff for border surveillance operations, access to various technical tools and systems, more efficient exchange of data and information, and greater access to practical EU expertise,” said Soreca.

He stressed that more efficient border management is in the interest of all countries in Europe.

“Today’s step is of particular importance because it comes at a time when BiH has fallen into a deep political crisis that, unfortunately, has almost halted progress in EU integration,” said Soreca, adding that BiH has the capacity to move forward when there is sufficient political will to do so.
