A state of natural disaster has been declared in Bihać and Bosanska Krupa as of Tuesday night, which was confirmed after the meetings of the city’s civil protection headquarters. Previously, such a decision was made in Sanski Most, which illustrates the seriousness of the current situation in the Una-Sana Canton (USC).

Heavy rainfall caused the water level of all rivers to rise, water to overflow from the riverbeds, water to seep into residential, business and auxiliary buildings, as well as the activation of landslides.

The mayor of Bihać, Elvedin Sedić, and members of the Civil Protection Service confirmed that in this city alone, around 200 buildings in ten urban settlements were flooded, as well as a large number of agricultural goods. Road communication to the settlement of Klisi is still interrupted, so the residents of this settlement are being delivered food and drinking water by rescue teams on and under water.

Water spilling onto the road is currently preventing traffic on the road Bihać – Srbljani.

The situation is very serious in Sanski Most and Bosanska Krupa, with the fact that in the municipality of Bosanska Krupa, the culmination of the increase in the water level of the Una river is only expected tonight.
