Support of Canton Sarajevo for Project Alliance Association of Organic Producers in BiH

The Minister of Economy of Sarajevo Canton Emir Hrenovica and the President of the Alliance Association of Organic Producers Sejad Herceg signed an Agreement today on the patronage of the 2nd international fair of organic produce and ecotourism “Organic Sarajevo 2013”.

The fair will be held from 26 February to 2 March in the square “Trg Djece Sarajevo” with the participation of 53 exhibitors from 9 countries.

Minister Hrenovica said that the Ministry has recognized the importance of organization and enthusiasm of the Alliance of Organic Producers in the FBiH “Organsko BiH”. He promised that it would have the support of Canton Sarajevo in its activities that are carried out in the promotion of BiH organic products.

“This is only one of the ways that we wish to convey a message to our fellow citizens to “buy healthy, buy organic”, said Minsiter Hrenovica. He added that from 26 February to 2 March Sarajevo will be the center of organic products and experts working on the development of important and promising agricultural production.

Minister Hrenovica also promised the support to other projects that contribute to development of agricultural products, as well as the economy in the Canton.

According to the President of the Alliance in the FBiH Sejad Herceg, as part of the fair they plan to hold an international conference “State and Legislation in Organic Production”, with the organizational help of the BiH Foreign Trade Chamber.

As part of the conference a study called “Mapping Approach and Market Potential of the Organic Sector in Countries of South East Europe”, whose goal is to open new opportunities for further development and strengthening of regional networks of organic producers Balkan Organic Network (BON).

It was announced that, with a rich cultural program, the biggest organized tasting of organic food until now will be presented, and the innovative presentation of ecotourism, gourmet food, as well as local products and souvenirs from BiH and the region.
