In one day, everything disappeared at Sarajevo’s Quadrant market. What remains – the subject of a court dispute with a private person and the question of who is the target of this location and for what? Ema Šećović sought the answers.
It all started three and a half years ago, claims the director of Tržnice-pijace Jasmin Terović, stating that strange things have been happening lately when it comes to this market. One of the strangest – a court case with a private person.
“We were informed three and a half to four years ago that there was a sale of this real estate by certain natural persons, that a probate hearing was held with the alleged legal relatives of the plot, and based on that, a re-entry was made in the Municipal Court in Sarajevo, and we were asked to let’s move out of this market”, says Terović.
The company Tržnice-pijace then filed a complaint and noticed very strange notary contracts. Contracts in which the buyer buys real estate from the seller who declares that he is selling the house and the garden. The buyer claims in his sales contract that he has visited the properties and that he is buying such properties. The problem is that there is no house or garden on this plot. The legal team and competent institutions are involved in this dispute. However, there is no end in sight to malfeasance.
“It’s interesting that the people who sold that property came to us a few years ago and asked us to pay a certain amount in order to give us that plot,” adds Terović.
This is more of a reason for suspicion, after the fire.
“Everything around this market is under some circumstances that are a little unclear,” Terović points out.
However, neither the mayor of the Municipality of Novi Grad Sarajevo, Semir Efendić, nor the director of the Market-Market directly connect the fire with the existing dispute. That will certainly be determined by the authorities.
“I must say that I personally suspected yesterday when I saw the first information that it was a fire. However, when I heard that all the pits were open, that it was on a working day, then that doubt was less because there is a greater possibility that someone will do it at night”, says Efendić.
He also claims that no one but the Construction Institute should be registered as the owner. In the ZK extract, a private person is registered as the owner of the plot, and the company Tržnice-pijace Sarajevo owns the plot.
“In the previous period, some private individuals, by concluding, in our opinion, dubious contracts, managed to transfer some parts of that area and register them in their own name. However, what I know is that there are court cases and even a criminal case in connection with this. I think there were some arrests, etc. And that is a matter that is in court. I don’t think he will get rid of it quickly. Neither this fire can speed it up nor slow it down”, adds Efendić.
The investigation is still ongoing, and the Canton Sarajevo Ministry of Internal Affairs has not yet announced the official cause of the fire.
